Opened in 2001, the Anaheim House of Blues is a unique music venue with a rich and colorful history. Located in Downtown Disney, the House of Blues Anaheim is the home of the special Quilts of Gees Bend which dates back as far as the early 1900s as well as its painted New Orleans French doors showing Heaven and Earth alongside Temptation and The Crossroads. As per tradition, there is a metal box full of mud taken out of the Delta Mississippi stored underneath the stage. Maybe it’s this nod to history which makes the music venue so popular with performers and audiences alike – or perhaps it’s the excellent choices of programming and concerts. Either way, for those visiting hotels near Downtown Disney, the House of Blues is a must-see!

Starting the calendar for January 2014 is a great event: Secret Chief Presents Verdell, Breach The Summit, Y Luv, This Time With Feeling and Foley. Doors will open at 7pm on Thursday, January 2nd for this night of entertainment suitable for all ages. Secret Chief is an advocate of the music scene in the Orange County area, putting on concerts and offering advice to bands looking to perform in a range of venues. Their choices of acts for each of their events are specifically designed to create an overall effect, giving guests an experience which they will not easily forget. Presenting the work of relatively unknown performers alongside other big names, Secret Chief nights are always an evening of brilliant entertainment.

On January 3rd, a very well-known act is onstage: Reel Big Fish, with the Pietasters, Mighty Mongo and The Maxies. Popular for many years, Reel Big Fish has been an independent act now since 2006 when they left their record label. Their fan following is enormous, generating significant excitement whenever they announce performance dates, and the support acts for this night are also each popular in their own right.
