See Whales Up Close at Newport Beach!

August 16, 2013

Summer is almost over and it’s time to take full advantage of the remaining time left. What better way to spend a summer day in Southern California than at the beach? The cool ocean breeze combined with a warm summer day that California is known for is sure to be a fun time. If you decide to enjoy a day at the beach, why not get a tour of the ocean while you’re at it? Newport Beach is one of the best places in Southern California to take a boat ride out into the ocean and go whale watching. If you will be at one of the places to stay near Newport Beach, head over to Newport Landing Whale Watching and get an up close look at sea life!

Whale watching is a fun activity that is perfect for all ages. Hop aboard the boat and get ready to enjoy a great cruise. For the next 2.5 hours, you will ride out into the ocean under the guidance of an experienced tour guide. Your tour guide will be there to answer any questions you may have and will point out the different types of sea creatures you will see during your trip. Boats are roomy with seating both indoors or out on the deck.

So what types of whales will you see during your cruise? Whale sightings vary each trip in both quantity and type. From now until November, guests can expect to see giant blue whales and finback whales. If you take a cruise from December through April, guests can expect to see California Gray Whales since this is the time they migrate along the California coastline. If you’re lucky, whales won’t be the only sea creatures you will spot during the cruise. Some other wildlife known to make an appearance include dolphins, sea lions, sharks, and seals. What animals will you be able to spot?
