Celebrate St. Patty’s Day at Downtown Disney

March 14, 2014

St Patrick’s Day is always a grand affair in Downtown Disney, with everything decorated in the colours of the season and the atmosphere charged with revelry and mirth. This year’s event has been renamed as ‘The Mighty St Patrick’s Day Festival’ – pointing to the grandeur of the affair and the over-the-top partying set to take place in the period. In Downtown Disney, the celebrations will be centerd on Raglan Road but will spill through all the streets all day, letting the event truly live up to its ‘Mighty’ moniker! If you’re staying near Disneyland, then enjoy some St. Patty’s Day festivities at Downtown Disney.

Live entertainment will be the highlight of the celebration, with popular favorites returning to charm the crowds. The U2 tribute group known as ‘Elevation’ will be top of the list alongside the famous ‘3 Dollar Band’ and ‘The Willis Clan.’ There are an incredible three stages of live music, giving a full calendar of entertainment and a variety of sounds to suit guests of all ages and tastes. Alongside these three big Downtown Disney names will be acts newer to the line-up, including the award winning Irish quartet named ‘We Banjo 3’ as well as ‘Goitse,’ known for blending their own unique compositions into the tunes of traditional Irish folk music. Step by step dancing workshops will be teaching guests how to move in the Irish way, too, which is bound to be a hit.

As for food and drink, guests should collect their Mighty St Patrick’s Day Festival Passport and check out the range of options available to them. The Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant is the obvious choice, with its Irish themed menu and décor, but a number of other restaurants are getting into the spirit and running special dishes and events. Forty Thirst Street will have Irish Cream Coffee on offer; Candy Cauldron will have St Patrick’s Mickey Mouse sweet apples available; Paradiso 37 have something for the adults with a number of Irish cocktails including the specialty known as The Giant Leprechaun.

The Shamrock route around the area will take guests to all the sites of entertainment, history and shopping opportunities connected to the Emerald Isles for the duration of the Festival, making it a perfect trip for the whole family.
